2010 Sales

It’s that time of the year again when we flood to the bargain buckets and rails in our favorite shops, just so we can find the cheapest item at all possible. Sometimes I wonder, when I push my hand in-between the tightly packed hangers and pull out a 70% off original price jumper “do I really need this”, just 3 weeks ago I saw it full price and I just walked past it, how would my style have changed that drastically. As I slowly place the jumper back to its original rail, a tall, rather hefty woman reached out and snatched it just at the same moment I had put it down. She walks of to the changing rooms little did she know that it was a size 8. Would this woman really have picked up a size 8 if there was no sale, I think she would have looked for her own size, a size that flattered her.
The point I am trying to get at is that the estimated 1.3 million shoppers who spent £120 million pounds within two days at the West End, will probably have felt pressured by the sudden drop in price or rushed by the ever growing horde of crazed shoppers, only to get home and find that its not their colour, their size or their shape!!
I think we should stop for a second when we have found an item which catches our eye; and ask ourselves “do I have items already in my wardrobe which will complement this top?” or “do I have the figure to actually pull this jumpsuit off?” In many cases you will find yourself putting the clothing down, leaving empty handed but then walking into another shop and finding something amazing which you had your eye on for weeks but couldn’t afford, and now to your amazement its in the bargain 70% off rail, that cardigan was well worth the wait.....
